Tidbits from the world of broadcasting ...

'Joan's Corner'
Transplanted Illinois attorney Joan Schiller Travis is producing and hosting a weekly call-in show on Time Warner Cable's community access Channel 19. "Joan's Corner" is a half-hour live chat with guests from all walks of life. It is geared to inform, entertain and solicit comments from the viewing audience each Tuesday from 7 to 7:30 p.m. Travis is an attorney licensed in Illinois and Wisconsin who moved to San Diego from the Chicago area 4-1/2 years ago. She says she introduced the live call-in weekly TV program to 17 Chicago suburbs through TCI Cable public access, which she hosted and produced for 10 years. Jung-Ho Pak, music director of the San Diego Symphony, was the guest on Travis' first show last week. Among future guests will be Marine Corps Major Gen. Charles F. Bolden Jr., San Diego County Sheriff William B. Kolender, Padres Hall of Fame honoree Dave Winfield and Michael Shames of Utility Consumers' Action Network.
